LCAS Highlights Important Bird Areas Program
Tuesday, November 14th, 2006Janet Ellis, Executive Director of Montana Audubon, will discuss long-term conservation of birds and their habitats through the Important Bird Areas (IBA) Program, followed by a silent auction, this Tuesday, November 21st, at 7:00 p.m. in the L&C Library large meeting room. The event is sponsored by the Last Chance Audubon Society and is free and open to the public.
Janet will highlight Montana Audubon’s work since 2002 to identify and protect Montana’s 32 IBAs, ranging in size from 100 acres at Safe Harbor Marsh to more than one million acres at the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge.
The IBA Program is a global effort to identify, monitor, and protect a network of sites that are critical for the conservation of birds.
